Known also under his French pseudonym of Lecoque, Alois Kohout worked for a long time in Parisian Montmartre. His modernist paintings of the period were influenced by the postimpres-sionistic landscape section of the so-called École de Paris (or School of Paris) with, for example, Maurice Utrillo as one of its prominent representatives. This AJG hosted exhibition is the first retro-spective of the artist on view in the Czech Republic.
